GeoTerraImage (Pty) Ltd (GTI) has a proven track record, both in South Africa and internationally, of using remote sensing and geospatial technologies to support a wide range of market sectors. These include natural resource management, urban and regional planning, business geography, agricultural and forestry planning and management, international peace keeping and telecommunication network planning.
For example, GTI has recently been appointed as the preferred supplier for regional land-cover data over SADC for the international Peace Parks Foundation and has an established long-term relationship with TeleAtlas Africa regarding the collaborative production of continent-wide telecommunication (“clutter”) planning data. GTI in collaboration with the Agricultural Research Council (Institute for Soil Climate & Water) and SiQ have formed the National Crop Statistics Consortium (NCSC) and have, over the past 8 years supported the Department of Agriculture in terms of annual crop estimates. GTI also has resellers agreements with organisations such as Spatial Technologies and MapIT who act as agents for GTI datasets.
Recent key clients include the Department of Water Affairs and Forestry, Ezemvelo KwaZulu Natal Wildlife, Statistics South Africa, CSIR, Nokia-Siemens Networks, MTN, Vodacom, South African National Biodiversity Institute, Department of Agriculture, ESKOM, USAID, World Bank, Conservation International, Peace Parks Foundation, Finnish Aid Agency, NorConsult, Omnia Fertilisers, Standard Bank, TeleAtlas Africa.
The company has been involved as the remote sensing partner of choice in multi-disciplinary projects with a number of public and private sector companies and organizations. These projects are both national and international in nature. Remote sensing projects have been undertaken recently in the following countries: Angola, Congo, Botswana, Ghana, Germany, Kenya, Lesotho, Mali, Madagascar, Mozambique, Namibia, Nigeria, South Africa, Swaziland, Tanzania, Uganda, United Kingdom, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
Increasingly, as projects become more complex and multi-disciplinary, GTI is requested to partner with other consultants in support of larger projects. GTI has recently been an important collaborative partner with organisations and companies such as: MHP Geospace, TeleAtlas Africa, MapIT, SiQ and the Agricultural Research Council (Institute for Soils, Climate and Water).
