GeoTerraImage (Pty) Ltd (GTI) is an independent consultancy, composed of a dynamic group of dedicated and skilled professionals with over 80 man-years of experience in remote sensing, image processing, image interpretation and related geo-spatial technologies. GTI was established in 1999 and has since grown to become a leading geospatial information provider in southern Africa. GTI is one of the leading consultancies in Sub-Sahara Africa able to provide a fully integrated satellite remote sensing capability, within a geo-spatial environment.
GTI specializes in the analysis of satellite and airborne imagery, which is used in combination with a variety of complementary data sources to provide a complete spatial solution. Image interpretation experience gained in a variety of national, regional and international projects has provided the GTI team with a unique skills profile, that is unequalled in Sub-Sahara Africa and on par with the best in Europe.
Increasingly, as projects become more complex and the need for high quality digital imaging and data analysis grows, partnering with other consultants is an increasing feature of GTI’s business model. The company has been involved as the remote sensing partner of choice in many multi-disciplinary projects, with both public and private sector companies and organizations, nationally and internationally.
GTI’s business model is based on a combination of providing specialist consultancy services as well as off-the-shelf digital data products to the geo-spatial community. These off-the-shelf products, such as Growth Indicator© and Urban Landscape Characterisation datasets are designed to provide GIS data analysts with accurate, baseline, value-added data that is maintained over time. GTI currently employs 13 full time members of staff, all of whom are at least graduate level technical specialists, including Directors, apart from the company secretary. The staff compliment continues to increase in line with GTI’s own business growth. This core technical group is supported by a team of external freelancers, consultants and strategic business partners.
GTI utilises a range of industry standard image processing and GIS software, including but not limited to ERDAS, eCognition and ArcGIS, providing a comprehensive range of geo-spatial mapping, modelling and classification capabilities.
