SPOT-5 3D products

The SPOT-5 range of 3D products consists of their Reference 3D database and Digital Elevation Model (DEM).
· The Reference3D is a geo-coded, worldwide database, made up of 3 information layers, a DEM, HRS ortho-images and Quality and traceable data

Satellite images
 
Over the years GTI has build-up a substantial archive of high and medium resolution satellite images, mainly over Africa. In certain cases total country coverage’s exist for example South Africa, Tanzania and Nigeria. Unique time distinct data sets also exist (for example total country coverage for Tanzania and Nigeria for 1990/1991 and 2002/2003) that is ideal for change detection projects.

Clutter / land-use data for over 300 cities in Africa is available off-the-shelf from our archive. Total country coverage of clutter data exists for most African countries.

Urban growth data / Change detection
Change detection data that quantify annual urban growth are available for the metropolitan areas in South Africa. This is an extremely detailed and current data set that contains information right down to individual stand level.

Off-the-shelf data are available for the following metro’s:
Johannesburg, Tshwane, Mogalecity, Sedibeng, Ekhuruleni, Pietermaritzburg, Durban, Port Elizabeth, Cape Town.

New data available in 2006: all residential building applications submitted for most of the Gauteng area have been incorporated in an expanding Growth Indicator product

Digital elevation models (DEM)

Digital elevation models (DEM), of varying resolutions, are available over mostly Africa. Resolutions range from 1 meter over urban areas up to 500m for whole regions. Certain countries have total coverage and 20-meter DEM’s are available for more than 160 of the major cities in Africa.
