Mark has been active in Remote Sensing in SA for the last 20 years, having started at the then South African Institute of Forestry Research, which was followed by an extensive period at the CSIR. Has been involved in many key remote sensing studies in SA including the National Land-cover mapping projects. Mark has published over 15 scientific papers and his local expertise in land-cover / use mapping has been acknowledged internationally. Since 2001, Mark has also been a director of GeoTerraImage.

André has more than 15 years of experience in both private (Urban-Econ & Georigin) and public (Stats SA) sectors with exposure in strategic planning processes ranging from spatial development frameworks, land use planning, economic analysis, market potential analysis and general GIS related work ranging from aerial photo interpretation, data capturing, data conversions, database development, database management and assessing, designing and implementing large scale GIS related projects.

Background & Qualifications:
Amanda has more than 20 years experience in aerial photography interpretation and mapping for urban infrastructure and electrification projects. These include mapping and processing of digital aerial photography, electrical spanning plans and profiles, map creation for Surface and Mineral Rights. Other project involvement include the capture of dwelling points for Stats SA, and GTI Growth Indicator products, as well as Telecoms and Agricultural Mapping projects.

Lungile has more than 3 years experience in environmental Remote Sensing , generating land-cover and telecoms data sets across the SADC region, as well as developing automatic procedures and sequences in Erdas for image processing and ortho-rectification.

Thuli has more than 4 years in the public sector (SANBI) with experience within conservation planning, biodiversity pressures to the environment, update of layers for the national spatial biodiversity assessment, land use planning processes such as bioregional plans, and the various GIS related work. She worked extensively on mapping land degradation in arid systems using both GIS and Remote Sensing.
